What brand of xylitol and erythritol do you use? Why? and where do you get it?

I just got done ordering the health garden kosher xylitol. I liked it because its made from hardwood instead of corn (as suggested by Dave Asprey). Got it off amazon, will report back with what I think of it. Paid $38 for 5 lbs shipped.

Couldn't find any erythritol that wasn't corn based. From what I understand its created from cornstarch that is fermented and then the erythritol is isolated out. I don't know if its important to try to find non corn based erythritol as well? Who makes the best erythritol?

agreed. and i've done well at eliminating sweets. i'm looking at sweeteners to make my daily green smoothie enjoyable. I've done well at choking it back the last several months. Recently though I've decided that there should be some way to at least make it bearable

I agree Mike but the problem is that you can find nothing that is 100% pure. Even if it is 99.9% pure, there is the chance that the refining process left 0.1% of a chemical that is toxic. If so you could be seriously hampering your performance. 20-30 micrograms of LSD is enough to make you trip.

This is the structure of erythritol (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Erythritol_structure.svg).

I doesn't matter where it comes from, it's the same in the end. "Chemicals" don't care if they're "natural" or "synthetic", they have a structure and they are what they are, the path they took to get there doesn't matter.

I was also curious about this so I just asked Dave:

"Hi Dave I'm having a bit of trouble sourcing why you think stevia & xylitol are the best sugar sweeteners, considering xylitol is a sugar alcohol & the research on stevia is preliminary (plus not providing any energy, as you said). Would you do me a biggie & link me to your reasoning?"
