Yeah, definitely take her rankings with a grain of salt. Everybody is different. A lot of the rankings listed do not correspond with my personal experience.

"Inflammatory factor" isn't one thing. It could refer to a number of chemical inflammatory markers that may be elevated (or lowered) in blood tests. These could be Rheumatoid Factor, Sedimentation Rate, or Histamine levels.

Just to extend a little bit the other two answers.

It's a factor telling whether and how much a food can trigger inflammation on the body or on the contrary, promote anti-inflammatory effects. It's pretty related to the concept of alkaline and acidic diets, where some think that alkaline foods may promote anti-inflammatory effects and acidic ones (you guess what kind: grains, sugars, etc) trigger inflammation.

Not sure it has really solid background and if it can be so much directly quantifiable, though, but seems that it may certainly be something into it.

Nutrition Data shows inflammatory data of most basic foods. http://nutritiondata.self.com/

You mean in food? I've never really bought into the concept. I suppose it is important if you only eat a few foods. If you eat with diversity, it shouldn't really matter. Anyways, Monica Reinagel made an index, similar to a GI or GL index, although less scientific in my opinion. She wrote a book, The Inflammation Free Diet Plan.
