Is it in my head, or am I itchy-er when I cheat?

I have company in town, so as usual I loosened up my diet: a glass of wine, something fried, and likely a sauce thickened with flour. All of it totally worth it - only problem is the little patch of poison ivy I have seems to be flaring up. Thinking back this seems to happen for me with allergies, bug bites, and even ring worm. It's more or less under control till I get a little sugar or gluten in me. Have you had similar experiences? Is there research to support this? Or have I really just swallowed the paleo Kool-aide?

My coach gets itchy when she cheats and gets the skin rash, too. You're not alone!

Some people experience inflammation when they go off paleo, so it's entirely possible that something fairly benign on a normal day might be aggravated slightly by SAD eating. Your body has to work harder to deal with the food you're giving it, which can make you feel worse overall.
