I'm at the point now that I'm needing to make major dietary changes for a variety or reasons, most important being improving my health.
However, the other major reason is that I've been experiencing severe digestive issues for that past several years, which start the following way.
- egg/sulfur smelling burps.
- the runs (watery)
- vomiting for about a day
Sounds gross, and is gross.
I used to get it a couple of times a year, and now its more unpredictable.
I had allergy testing done several years back, but it was inconclusive. And the docs I've spoken to, have no clue what could be causing it, however my gastro suggested possible food allergy.
From what I've been readying, testing won't necessarily show up for digestive problems, and that some grain allergies can produce most of the symptoms above. I also consume far too much sugar, which I've started working on.
Question being, does any of this sound (read) familiar to those before going paleo?

Yeah, I had the burping and bloating for sure. Doing a very low carb diet (with taking vinegar tonics or betaine HCL after each meal) for a month cured the burping. The bloating took six months of a paleo diet to go away. The runs I had more trouble with and I had to add rice back in to make them go away.
I would make sure to get your doctor to test for parasites and chronic food poisoning though.

I had severe bloating and constipation before with loss of appetite, nausea, lots of gas (yay!) and fatigue. I had guts that sounded like a haunted house after I ate. I'd go without eating at the office all day just to avoid the after effects. My gastro doc called it "IBS" since it seems to have no cause. He put me on anti-parasitic meds, trying to figure out the cause. I never could seem to tie it to any one particular food, or episode of high stress. It seemed to come and go as it pleased.
I was a vegetarian for 15 years, and had the digestive issues the last 5 years at least. I've improved a lot since going on Armour Thyroid and taking a prescription probiotic (Rezyst) and going paleo. I'm not 100% better all the time, and I still lean towards constipation/slow gut. I'm hoping the longer I keep this up, the better I'll feel. I was so tired of feeling terrible all the time. Feeling sick, exhausted, and gross all the time really deals a blow to your mental health after a while.
