Database of food intolerances related to ethnicity?

Is there such a thing out there? More kids in certain places in Africa are coming up as celiacs, certain places in Europe have more dairy intolerances, and on and on. Does anyone know of a site or study that has researched into this? Or perhaps a Wiki type site where people listed their ethnicities and food issues would come up with helpful trends?

Interesting, although so far racial variance has been presumed 1-5% being in things like celiac disease. SO it almost seems like it should be an individual consideration anyway.

Hi Kelly. I definitely think having leaky gut opens your body up to become allergic to just about anything!

interesting question, I'd be curious to see allergies by race or region....I just thought everyone was starting to get leaky gut type symptoms which cause a lot of the food allergies/intolerance; because the world is eating more processed foods as countries develop. I live in S. America right now and I just heard of a 'rare' case of a local child with a peanut allergy...its rare for them but I see more such occurrences coming their way because they are just now developing all the crap we've been eating for years.

I'm not aware of such a database. I do know that American Indians are thought to have a genetic disposition to be unable to utilize carbohydrates. My belief however, is that they don't have the 12000 to 17000 years of natural selection (those who can't tolerate neolithic foods dying off before reproducing) to build tolerance to grain based foods. Remember, it was only a few hundred years ago that the "white part" of my family came here and over the barrel of a gun "civilized" the brown part of my family...giving them a new religion, a new diet, and a new way of life. Similar to the way St. Patrick and St. Kildare had done to them before that..."civilized at gun point".

Anyway, the end result is rampant diabetes, renal failure, autoimmune disease, loss of body parts by amputation, etc... among "native" Americans. Everyone on the reservation just says Indian, but I don't want to hurt anyone outside of the reservation's feelings by using the wrong word (been corrected by non NA or AI's too many times.) :)
