Should I Drink Alcohol on an Empty Stomach?

I believe I once heard Robb Wolf say that alcohol should be consumed on an empty stomach, immediately followed by a meal that includes protein and fat. Does anyone happen to know if this is, in fact, the best way to mitigate the harmful effects of alcohol? (Personally, I'm quite skeptical -- since drinking on an empty stomach seems like it would absolutely slam my liver with alcohol).

Your thoughts?

I get my money's worth quicker when I drink on an empty stomach.

he does also say to space out the alcohol , I have a good time following robbs/lean gains' advise but I've never had much of a problem with alcohol.

Here's what Robb said in one of his podcasts:

And by the same recommendation again, drink early, hit it on an empty stomach, finish off with protein and fat, and that way you tend to disrupt your growth hormone release as little as possible and you still have some fun, get your head changed and all the rest of that stuff.

This sounds like a great idea unless you're someone, like me, for whom alcohol is a gateway drug to overeating. But if you want the buzz and fewer calories -- and can stop at one or two, empty stomach is definitely the way to go!

another reason he recommends to drink on a "empty" stomach is so that you need less alcohol to feel the effects quickly and he also recommends soda water with spirits for the same reason.... there is a very good post on leangains about alcohol.
