Preparing for and recovering from a big night out?

I don't drink frequently, but as a 20 year old sometimes I just want to get messy with my friends. I tend to stick to sparkling wine, tequila or vodka, lime and sodas. Not overly worried it, but I do always find it harder to get back into CrossFit for the next couple of days.

So I'm interested in what you'd suggest to do in the lead up to a night out, as well as the day after. Both to prevent or manage a hangover, as well as minimise the damage alcohol will have on health and body composition goals. (Personally I'm working on getting just a bit leaner) Diet, supplements, exercise etc.?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts :)

If you would like to drink and not get sloppy, splitting an 8-ball with a friend does the trick :)

...In all seriousness though, I find I can minimize the hangover by sticking to a clean alcohol with little-to-no mixers...for me that is vodka (shots, on the rocks, or in a martini). Since there's little to cut taste, it's a good decision to find a vodka that you like best and sticking to it when you have the option. Getting drunk of beer, G&Ts, tequila, or scotch just makes me feel exceptionally lousy the next day, so I avoid them. Plus, I prefer the "taste" of vodka to the others anyways.

I drink water between drinks too.

The next day I tend to just back on track. I get some activity in that is going to get me sweating in the morning, and then follow that up with a cold shower or a swim and hearty breakfast (like an omelet or some salmon with a couple soft boiled eggs).

I do not seem to get very bad hangovers though. Perhaps it is just me, or perhaps it the aforementioned techniques actually do something to mitigate feeling badly the next day. I don't know, but I hope some of it works for you.

i would drink alot of water and make sure you got a big meal down before your start drinking. take a day or two off from crossfit after the big night and stay hydrated. also dont drink too much ;)

cheers
