post-workout booze?

So I get most of my major exercise lately walking/running home from work in the evenings. Not every day of course. It's about 2.5 miles with hills and I run about 1/4 to 1/3 of the. I also like to have a couple glasses of wine or some liquor when I get home.

Is there any real evidence that a post-workout drink is contraindicated? I'm not highly athletic. I just want to keep in good health.

You suck and alcohol is wonderful :-)

That IS interesting! I'll have to have a few shots after my next resistance training, too! Then again, this certainly doesn't prove that it's healthy.

I would have thought someone would have jumped at the chance to either chastise me or defend alcohol at all costs?

Probably most are tired of chastising you? :) .... I'll be back later be prepared . j/k'

First of all ... while 2.5 miles of run / walk can be considered exercise, I'm not sure it counts as a "workout". At your size probably one drink per day (no sugar / low sugar) is probably best.

Alcohol is not exactly health food but one or two drinks per day is probably ok for a guy. In your case you;d be better served by figuring out a program to add some muscle.

If you haven;t visited this site http://home.fuse.net/clymer/bmi/

give it a read & run your numbers. Check out the waist to height ratio thesis by USAF officer.

And take a look at what alcohol really does to you.

I have a drink or two per day (or none) but I don't kid myself that it's health food. The dose makes the poison.
