great! I tend to teeter on the ledge of ketosis daily, I'm always taking in about 50g carbs per day so a glass or two will knock me out, I'm assuming because of this? @wjones @Rhubarb is it that you are deeply in ketosis? would love to know your secret!

Interesting! I've never actually tried testing myself after more than a couple of glasses, assuming that it would probably knock me out.

If you want to get out of the habit, dont buy any wine. That will make it hard to have a glass. I doubt you will drive to the shop to get a wine every night. Or maybe you will, who knows.

Depends I suppose. I drink red wine every day. Lost 80 pounds, have none left to lose, look stellar.

Intermittent fast for 16-18 hours a day and then you can enjoy your wine!

I love this answer! Yeah...one night I had a bottle on an empty stomach. Um...the hangover and drunk texts I found helped me cut back :) seriously though, I swamped wine for tequila and do it 2 or 3 times per month as a treat.

You should drink wine to oblivion one night. Your wine headache/purple teeth will make you quickly stop this habit.

Or you could evaluate what's important in your diet. Wine probably isn't so cut it out. If you like wine a lot (like me) keep it in and make sure you're eating super clean.

The no booze thing is what kept me off the Whole30 at our gym last month. How can you not have a NorCal 'Rita in the month of June? Impossible.

I've been drinking tea or sparkiling water (depends on the temperature outside) - in a wine glass ;) It gives the feeling of drinking something fancy (like wine) but what's in the glass is ok. Watch for caffeine in teas!

But on friday night after a long week - i'll still have a glass of red wine

Well, it basically comes down to how much you want to lose the weight. If you decide that you have a target weight in mind, identify the things that might prevent getting there and execute. It really is as easy as that.

I don't think a glass or two will harm you. I have a bottle every few days and still loose weight. Every day - might be bad news?

I love wine too, but when I started primal I removed it completely at first because I noticed I was kind of 'itching' for it. I figured that wasnt good!

So after the first 30 days with none and I started loosing weight I added in a once a weekend treat, 1 glass. It will knock you out of ketosis so if you are good most times you will go right back into the next day or two.

So its a trade off I guess of goals and desires?

This may or may not be helpful, but the only way I know of to get out of a habit is to practice not doing it. It may also help to form another habit in its place. Consider what will work for you. You also might think about the unwanted effects of the wine when you get the urge.

If it's after dinner you could try rearranging your schedule. Do something else (active) in the time you would be drinking the wine. It took time to get into the habit, it will take time to get out of it.

Perhaps, make it a chore, or at least more difficult to "get to the food." I can't say remove all your wines from house, but if you can get it into a wine cellar, under lock and key; even that can deter efforts? Meager advice and improvements, but it could potentially work?

I would go out to a bar late (sober) and find someone who is embarrassingly drunk and watch him/her for a while. Be thankful that's not you. Then look at all the people who are about 10 years older than you and look at what it does to them. I found those to be helpful motivators when I was trying to cut down (not to lose weight, but to change my lifestyle).

Well, I don't know about you but I can't drink just one. No my ass has to have many, then it turns into a daily thing. I am actually fighting the urge to drink tonight but drinking makes my WODS SUCK! it makes me tired, sluggish and it makes my accounting job harder. So when I want to drink I have to really think about my goals and put them first. So try to ask yourself before you drink....is this going to help me reach my goals? Good Luck!

I've pretty much always liked a glass of wine at night. But there are times when I've felt it was a good idea to skip it, and I've done two things when wanting to reduce my wine intake. The first being just cutting it with mineral water, a little more each night, until there is just enough wine to smell it. Secondly, I'd get those pretty bottled kombucha drinks at the grocery store. My favorite is called Trilogy, it has ginger, raspberry juice, and lemon juice. A couple ounces of it still feels like a nice indulgence, and has just enough of an alcohol vibe to make me not miss the wine.

Recently, as an experiment I've been making a hot drink with Vitamineral Earth when I would normally drink wine, not every night, but maybe 5 out of 7. The Vitamineral stuff gives me a warm fuzzy buzz, and as a result I'm not missing the wine at all on the days I don't have it.

I whittled down my coffee habit by making it a once-a-week treat, instead of every day. It was something to look forward to on Sundays.

With weight loss as your goal, you could have the thought of being a little slimmer each Saturday night when you drink your glass or two of wine.
