Has anyone been tested for AGEs? *Edit: Or SHOULD we be tested for AGEs?

This may just be paranoia thrown in with curiosity talking but I eat a lot of meat and butter (which are known to have high contents of AGEs and especially more so when heated), and seeing as how AGEs are responsible for oxidation and inflammation, I think it would be really useful to know the levels in our body.
I've looked around and found some test called a skin autofluorescence reader but that doesn't sound like a test an everyday patient could take.

The test you are talking about is not available in this country yet. It hasn't been approved but it is available in Europe and Canada I think. It's given for diabetics.

@Sunny, are you referring to the first link I posted? If so, I have the full article and I can e-mail it to you.

I think this is a good question. I wish I had access to the whole article though.

@Matt, I was considering changing my question to "Should we be tested for AGEs?" And I think your latter question is an important one that needs to be answered. And how much is too much?

More pressing questions: Can you test for AGEs and does a test for AGEs really tell you anything meaningful?

I would be curious to get tested to see how the supplements I've been taking to inhibit glycation have worked. The test is available in Europe but has not been approved in the USA yet. There are good posts on this site discussing AGEs. Search under "glycation". I'd be more concerned about ingesting sugar than what you're talking about.
