I am curious to what you guys think about this. Bear in mind, this is an approximate. I tried to be as accurate as possible. This is on workout day (stronglifts). Age/19

@thegiantess Re-read what I wrote. *white rice is the worst safe starch you can eat*. Another way I could have said this is *rice is the only cereal grain that isn't complete garbage*. Rice is most certainly not "paleo", but even if you're not going for Paleo-er-of-the-year, there simply isn't anything great about rice. After the poisons in the bran have been stripped away, and assuming you get non-GMO, low orzein rice, you're left with a nutrient-lacking, carbohydrate rich food source. There's many better safe starch options: potatoes, sweet potatoes, cassava, squash, taro, etc.

Yeah, i usually don't eat rice. As you recommended potatoes, sweet potatoes and taro root. My diet usually has more veggies, this day surprisingly didn't have that many. Great advice, thank you. On a day to day basis i actually go by your advice. The only(major) flaw in my diet is the chicken. I have gone through a lot with the family trying to transition to Paleo. They have been supportive but most of my meat consumption is chicken. From time to time i get some seafood&lamb but that's about it.

Rice is possibly the worst safe starch you can eat. Stick to tubers. (And if you're eating rice, I take it your doing PHD, and not paleo?)

Chicken. I hope this is basically the only time you eat chicken during the week. There are much more optimal meats to eat daily (cow, lamb, goat, and most kinds of fish). Chicken is just fine sometimes, but keep it to 1-2 times a week.

Do you really need the dates? Stick to fresh fruits, instead of dried which are a much higher dose of sugar, and often lack the other good stuff in fruits. But again, not the worst choice.

I would add tubers and dense carb veggies (potatoes, sweet potatoes, true yams, cassava, squashes, taro, etc) for some starch especially if you are active. Also, they are all incredibly better options than rice.

Coconut oil and olive oil. Nice variety, and both good.

Iceberg lettuce is boring both for sensation of eating, as well as nutritionally. Include other greens, too.

So, overall, on this particular day, I give this a C+/B-. Definitely not terrible - definitely not great.

That looks pretty great to me...

The only advice I have is to maybe drop some of the oil in favor of fattier meats. It looks like your main meat source was chicken on this day. My guess is that you do switch this out for seafood and beef and such on other days? My favorite meats are beef and eggs so I usually get lots of fat from meat daily. On days where I go heavy on seafood or chicken, I try to include nuts and avocados and such to get fat. I don't like getting my fat from condensed oils... I don't have any studies to back myself up on this but eating lots of oil just doesn't seem to keep with eating "real" food to me.

Everything else looks pretty perfect to me!

To me it seems you tend to opt for the lower-nutrient foods. Choose kale/chard/spinach over cucumbers and iceberg lettuce. Choose beef, lamb, bison over chicken. Chooose squash, yams, rutabaga, turnip, parsnip, etc over white rice. Your foods are just ok... but not optimal if they are your main choices on most days.
