Why fish oil CAUSES acne for some?

I find that every-time I take fish oil I get weird spots that I don't usually get. I mean, I usually use a cheap Walmart brand and overdose on Omega 3 cause I thought it was so good for me when I take it. But read online and some people breakout from even small doses, whereas eating fish does nothing. Can taking too much omega 3 possibly cause acne? How can people that eat crap and get nothing their cell membranes need have clear skin?

Any suggestions?

Paleot, the difference between FCLO and walmart cheap fish oil is tremendous. I think OP is better off not taking any omega 3, than taking crappy quality ones

How long have you been Paleo? When I switched my diet, my skin suddenly decided to push everything to the surface. Initially, just some dirt / greasyness / keratosis pilaris, but within weeks it was full blown shingles. Adding topical coconut oil had even more gunk coming out. It was crazy. At 2 months in and now eating fermented cod live + butter oil, everything is beginning to calm down and reveal the clearest skin of my life. I have no idea what that was all about, but, you might have to give it time. (Or, stop taking the pills if they don't work.) Omega 3 is an essential fatty acid.

...that's your problem. Is it one of the ones stored at room temp just in a bottle on the shelf? Because if so, there's a good chance that the O-3 fats in it have oxidized (gone rancid) by the time you're putting it in your body. So then it would be MORE inflammatory, not less.

Interesting. I usually get this too. I cycle fish oil on and off. When I first start it again, I get a ton of acne in weird places, then it settles out in like a week.

I had no idea about not using the stuff on a shelf at room temps...
