What's wrong with my diet? Acne is worse in ways...

I know there are so many questions like this but I've been trying everything to no avail. I used to always get one or two pimples on my chin area. Those don't happen anymore unless I cheat. Now, I have a lot of red spots on my cheeks that haven't come to the surface or anything - no lumps - but this looks so much worse. It's like a ton of pimples that sit right under the skin. WHY did this happen??? I haven't introduced any new foods besides sardines - and I feel awesome after eating those so.. This has been going on for months now.

Here's what a typical day looks like:

B: 4 eggs cooked in ghee, 2 slices of bacon, 1 banana

L: 1 tin sardines or Alaskan salmon, salad with carrots, squash, spinach, raspberries or peach

D: Half pound of beef, spinach, sweet potato, coconut oil

All of my meat is from local farmers, grass-fed. I hardly cheat. I don't eat dairy or any sugar not from fruit. I've tried the paleo autoimmune protocol, cutting out eggs and nuts. Is this a lack of healthy gut flora? Because I took probiotics and ate Bubbie's pickles nonstop a couple months ago. Please help!

EDIT:

Wow! Thanks for all the help! I have no idea what is causing this so I'm just going to experiment with all your suggestions.

I just wash my face with cool water. I tried coconut oil - didn't do a thing. I'm going to switch out my laundry detergent - I always bought random ones. Here's a picture if it helps:

Ignore the chin and jaw area.. I'm at my parents' and have been eating sad.

Looks like you're assuming a low carb high fat diet would improve insulin sensitivity. Unfortunately I haven't seen this to be the case in scientific literature: http://diabetes.diabetesjournals.org/content/53/suppl_3/S215.full .

That's the thing though - my chin and jaw area always react to dairy and sugar. When this happens I know my hormones are disrupted too from other signs (I suspect too many androgens - study even mentions pcos with female's acne). So the study does relate to my chin/jaw area.

However, my cheeks never change no matter what I do with my diet. My cheek has only gotten these spots in the past few months despite the fact that I have only been eating better and my physical activities haven't changed. So insulin sensitivity if anything would be better now.

Clean pillow cases will NOT fix your acne... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22447309

It doesn't itch, but it doesn't look like regular acne either at least to me

I wash with cool water every morning. I tried coconut oil for a while but nothing changed. I wash my pillow case every couple of weeks. I think I'm going to try a different detergent

Interesting! I hope it's as simple as this! I have mostly been using tide. I'll look through some new detergents in my health food store. Thanks!

Because you aren't getting sufficient physical activity.

I agree with the direction Joanna 4 is going. After going over and over my food intake, I finally figured out that I was reacting to my laundry detergent, even though it was a national brand "free of dyes/scents, for sensitive skin".

I do fine with the Trader Joe's powdered detergent, but not Fresh Start, Gain, All, other national brands, and especially not any type of Tide. All of these cause faint red spots on my cheeks, and a stuffed up nose and few sneezes on waking up in the morning.

If I forget to bring my own pillow cases to a friend's house, or I forget to cover my pillow with some of my own clothing (if I forgot my pillowcase), I will have a reaction in the morning every time.

Strangely, I do not have a problem when staying in hotels.

If you add a picture someone may give more reliable information. My guess is if there's a thing likely to improve your skin about your diet, that must be removing the egg whites.

That doesn't sound like acne, it sounds like potential eczema. Does it itch? I had bad eczema that went away with supplementing high doses of vitamin d3 and introducing more carbs into my life.

I get weird acne and cysts when I eat nightshade vegetables (peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, spices with those in it, etc.) AND for some reason when I eat yams/sweet potatoes. Try cutting those out. I've been eating butternut squash in place of sweet potatoes that kind of give me the same flavor...a bit. Good luck.

Based on what you listed, I'd say you could try removing the ghee and see if your skin gets better. There could be traces of milk protein that are giving you a bad reaction. I can't consume ghee myself for some reason.. Sometimes things won't give you a reaction at first, but after a while they turn out not to be so good. I've been through that problem several times.

honestly, your diet sounds pretty perfect to me so i don't think that's what it is. how often do you wash your face and what do you put on it? do you change your pillow cases?
