Newbie needs help with zits!

I am on day 6 of Paleo and my skin is breaking out like crazy. I typically have very clear skin - people even comment on it - and I haven't had breakouts like this since high school. I am 36 now. Nothing else is really going on - I'm not on my period, I'm not stressed, etc. I am taking 2 capsules of Fermented Cod Liver Oil (just switched from fish oil), and a probiotic as my only supplements. A typical day has been:

3 eggs for breakfast with some fruit, nuts for snack, a big salad with chicken and avocado for lunch with olive oil dressing, nuts for snack, and salmon, chicken or beef for dinner with veggies.

This diet is a big change for me and I am starting to feel good after 3 days of the "flu". I really would like to continue but cannot stand the zits and the feeling of an itchy/oily face.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

if you are really distressed and dont want to even take the time to cut out one thing at a time, maybe revert to your old diet and start switching to paleo one peice at a time. (inverted trouble shoot)

(wont let me post long comments, so had to use 2 posts)

im not a doctor, but i think the conception that oil and fats cause acne is false. my understanding is that it has more to do with gut health/inflammation (sub dermal) which is why foods that people are sensitive to like dairy are connected with acne in a lot of people; in this case im assuming the nuts may have toxins on them or the sensitive poly saturated oils on the nuts/ nut oils may have oxidized which may lead to inflammation.

I agree with wfgod; although acne is known for having a multitude of causes, its origins are probably related to an inflammatory issue very much related to gut health... as with most any other disease lol. Paleo often brings out the biggest sensitivities in people, considering that it consists entirely of real food, which is not entirely harmless. Nightshades, lactose, phytates (in nuts), and eggs are the more well-known paleo gut irritants. As well, bacterial dysbiosis in the gut can play a major role in acne. Probiotics themselves won't resolve this issue, but it might help to take antimicrobials + probiotics to restore a symbiotic balance. A suggestion? Raw garlic + fermented foods.

By the way, thanks @wtfgod! I think it might be the fish oil, etc. I might try taking only 1 pill a day and maybe every other day.

maybe try cutting the cod liver oil or nuts of fruits.... just trouble shoot the changes in your diet one at a time. if your losing weight it might be the toxins from your fat stores?? if it doesnt go away try switching from paleo to a more restricted diet i think the one thats good for acne is fodmap diet??? not even remotely postive though, but i know there is one thats supposed to eliminate acne 100% and is paleoesque.

not an expert, thats just what i would do if i was you.(remove possible sources of inflammation)
