Grains vs. Soy vs. Sugar vs. Dairy: Who's the bigger culprit in the battle against acne?

Is it the dairy, gluten, sugar or vegetable oils? What is the worst for acne?

My adult acne is gone. I still consume full-fat fermented dairy and heavy cream. I've eliminated gluten grains and industrial seed oils (I'm sure I still get a little bit of the latter when I eat at restaurants, despite my best efforts). Sugar consumption is down 90% from my pre-paleo days (still the occasional cheat).

Considering the regularity with which I got pimples back in my bread making days, I'd have to say wheat is the biggest, baddest acne promoter of them all. Unfortunately, there are proteins in dairy which appear to be cross-reactive and push some of the same buttons.

I've noticed a pimple or two after exposure to soy as well.

For me, it was dairy, particularly lower-fat dairy.

So to echo Bree, we're probably each going to give you a different answer. :)

For me, it was fruit. I was getting small pimples on my forehead consistently for years until finally I my "apple a day" habit. Then the zits disappeared and I haven't had a zit since.
