So I'm a teenager who follows the Paolo diet(: I'm 17 years old. I've been doing it for almost a year(along with my parents) I Try to be pretty strict about it(most of the time) I try my absolute best to not eat oatmeal , beans , potatoes , sweet potatoes and anything else containing sugar/gluten and all of that. I seem to not be able to clear my acne.. even when I'm strict for a while it still doesn't go away! It gets really tough sometimes avoiding all these foods and I sometimes end up binging on it later in the middle of the night(I'm better about that now though) I just don't know what to do anymore , I really want clear skin /: I feel like I'm not eating enough or something , because I always tend to overeat all day long. Am I jsut not getting enough nutrients?? Everything is stressing me out(always worrying about the food I eat) and feeling guilty when I eat food that will cause acne.

i dont think acnes sole cause is diet, you probably want to address your skin care regimine and i guess its quite possible that your hormones are fuxing you in this area, also things like stress may play a role.... if your stressing over your diet constantly. im pretty sure there is also a slightly more strict paleoesque diet meant to deal with acne by avoiding all possibly irritating foods. might want to try that, see if it helps, then add foods back in one at a time.(clear them)

again if your stressing yourself out thinking about food, your not doing it right. also make sure you dont underconsume carbs, i know a lot of paleo people approach the diet like its meant to be 100% ketotic.

Im not sure if this will help but I had a bit of acne pre-paleo, never had a problem with it until I hit late 30's...once I started paleo it just went away and I had amazing clear smooth skin...however, it seems like ive developed some kind of allergic reaction now everytime I have something even with a hint of sugar, I now seem to break out in lumps on my face, not acne, almost look like sandfly bites. Quite frustrating...makes me stay on track though.

My son is your age and I tried to clear up his acne with Paleo and for a time it seemed to work, but then it got much worse. He wasn't as strict as I am and it is hard to control. Once it got bad it just escalated, so I'd say Paleo failed him in this area. I am convinced that some nutrients are missing from his diet that prevent healing, but I can't figure it out and he isn't helping much.

And I'm pretty sure I haven't helped you either. Hope somebody else has a good answer.
