A Paleo 4th of July

Answered on September 12, 2014

I'm spending 4th of July with family, but the more I think about it, the more stumped I am about what I can even make for side dishes. The main part of the meal is easy: lots of grilled meat with Organicville BBQ sauce. But no corn on the cob, biscuits, or fried chicken makes it a lil more difficult lol. Tips anyone?

I was considering grilling applegate hot dogs but Im not sure everyone here likes them so I'll probably stick with chicken to be safe =]

Nothing like grilled fish and slaw. Don't forget some fresh berries and cream.

Haha it is! Wasnt sure what your restrictions are since you didnt list any. I figure most people who eat a standard diet eat cheese so if you are having a party, then it cam be good to include it.

Deviled eggs, chicken drumettes, raw veggies and dip, fresh fruit (see if you can find a REAL watermelon, none if those flavorless seedless things), make some homemade ice cream (coconut milk if you don't do dairy) in your favorite flavor (berries, yum!).

Oh, and skewers of grilled veggies alongside the meat.

What time shall we all be there? ;o)

Some of my favorite side dishes include, but are not limited too ??? mix roasted sweet and white potatoes with fresh herbs, salads of all shapes, sizes and colors, bacon, ribs, a ham!

Remember, the two best things about July 4th are the meat, and the ye olde...blowing of shit up.

Truth.

I feel like any veggies thrown on the grill are bound to be delicious with a little salt and pepper.

Any summer squash, eggplant, etc. are great! Even leafy greens can work- bok choy, for example. It would also be easy to just throw them on the grill along with the meat.

Guacamole deviled eggs are always a favorite when I make them!

Just make guacamole however you like, throw the cooked egg yokes in, put them back into the whites, and throw a little fresh cilantro on top!

Also, if you are okay with some corn, you can get some organic non-GMO corn bread mix, make it according to the package, then dip some good hot dogs in it, bake them, and you've got some paleo-ish corn dogs!

Roasted veggies, sweet potato fries, guacamole, salsa, paleo biscuits, plantain chips, greek salad with olives and feta, broccoli salad wih mayo/raisins/carrots/vinegar, deviled eggs, bacon wrapped dates, cheesey garlic bread, different gratins like zucchini, cauliflower, potato if you eat those.

So many choices. There are tons of bread/biscuit recipes online for paleo baking.
