Day 4 of 21 day sugar detox and am an absolute zombie! Help!

So it's day 4 of my 21 day sugar detox and I have never been more exhausted in my life. Yesterday was much the same. 8+ hours sleep both nights and an additional 2 hours sleep today and I am still buggered. Is this normal? I was paleo pre- 21 day sugar detox so it has really just been cutting back carbs and sugar within the paleo protocol..

I am just finishing 3 weeks sugar free and i was the same the first week - completely knackered and headachey. Stick with it, it passes. In the meantime, I found eating really regularly helped a lot; i was having a snack (nuts, avo etc) pretty much every 2 hours

If you've suddenly flipped your diet from high carbs + low fat, to low carb + low fat + low calories, you're going to have a bad time.

I'd suggest a gradual tapering of carbs while upping fats to keep calories from dropping. If done gradually, you'll give your kidneys and thyroid a chance to adjust.

If you've dialed back your salt too, you'll want to put it back. "The most common symptoms experienced by those getting started on low-carb diets are fatigue, headaches, light-headedness or dizziness, and cramping. I would say these four symptoms probably comprise 98 percent of the complaints we get from our patients we put on low-carb diets. The most common cause of virtually all the symptoms listed above is an imbalance in electrolytes."

Strictly replacing refined sugar with other carbs (like fructose / safe starches) shouldn't cause you any issues. (*unless you have fructose malabsorption or digestive issues.)
