Zero Carb Questions
I am researching the effects of ketosis and how to get into ketosis. I find that most articles suggest at least 70% calories come from fats. I however have found this to be quite difficult to accomplish. I am much closer to a 50/50 split between... (more)
I find it difficult to get enough potassium when low carb without resorting to massive amounts of vegetables, vegetable juice and coconut water. I believe my brain fog and memory issues might be due to a long time potassium defiency on low carb. I... (more)
I've been IF-ing with a steak (with butter and cheese) daily for a week and I feel great (i.e. I no longer sleep 10+ hours a day, have more energy, mental focus etc). I'm just wondering whether I'm doing anything wrong because I can't find any... (more)
eventually you will become deficient in something. add some greens to your meal and utilize a variety of meats/fish. you will still be really low in carb consuption.

I've been ZC for over a month now in an attempt to improve my AI-leaky gut problems. I eat 80/20 fat protein of tallow and beef/lamb and probably 2000-2500 cals a day. I've never felt better and don't really flare up badly anymore. However, I seem... (more)

Tried the ZC to get rid of GERD. Well, it worked...sort of. Swallowing trouble: Gone Burning sensation: Gone Food coming up: Gone The problem is it made me severely constipated and in one day I now have a hemorrhoid. I ate: 1lb of grass-fed... (more)
I would try to find one or two plant foods you can add that don't reactivate the GERD while you adjust to a low-fiber diet. But the priority now is to get rid of the diarrhea. I would try mixing the broth with a can of pumpkin to do that. I have... (more)
What is the optimal role of carbohydrates in the human diet? No carbohydrates and ketosis? A cyclical ketogenic diet? A low to moderate (75-150 grams) carbohydrate intake? A higher (150-300 grams) intake of carbs of paleo sources? Is the... (more)
Ultimately, it's all individual. But if you had but one broad brush to paint with, I think 75-150 grams of carbs daily gets the most coverage, certainly closer than the 300+ grams of carbohydrate that conventional wisdom prescribes.
I'm still a newbie. I've been on Paleo for about a month now. I've eliminated all refined sugar, dairy, oats, etc. I've been good about all the 'biggies' in the paleo lifestyle. I've done well with eating real food, eating lean meat, good fat (I... (more)

possibly a stupid question. They just taste much sweeter than other meat. (Ex: scallops/oysters/etc are sweet which I attribute to their small amount of carbs). Thanks!
Per my copy of On Food and Cooking, definitely worth owning or checking out from the library, why shrimp and crab taste sweet is because they are collecting amino acids in their tissue, as a way to balance the salt in the surrounding water. Their... (more)
