I'm really curious about some stats that NO ONE has collected so far, and I hope you'll take the time to give me your answer... So here it goes: How much weight did you lose with the Paleo diet?!
a. Less than 5kg (4.4lbs)
b. Between 5kg (4.4lbs) to 10kg (22lbs)
c. Between 10kg (22lbs) to 15kg (33lbs)
d. Between 15kg (33lbs) to 20kg (44lbs)
e. Between 20kg (44lbs) to 25kg (55.1lbs)
f. Between 25kg (55.1lbs) to 30kg (66.15lbs)
g. Over 30kg (66.15lbs)
If you can include the TIME PERIOD, even better! :-)

I dont think the paleo diet is designed for losing weight, while many do lose weight, it is more of a way of eating or a lifestyle of eating healthy. I've lost nearly 20 lbs in 7 weeks but I also incorporate Insanity for my workouts so I am looking to lose weight. I was also overweight when I started eating Paleo 2+ months ago.
I would also look around this site and see all the posts about those looking to gain weight with Paleo, or looking to cure ailments and many other reasons for living Paleo that have nothing to do with losing weight. I think many people see the word diet after Paleo and automatically assume that this is a diet for losing weight rather than a diet for general health. If you look to the right of this page and look at related topics the 3rd one says "dont want to lose wieght".
One more thing is that losing fat doesn't neccessarily mean losing weight, many people will lose inches of fat and never lose a pound of weight especially if they are looking for stregnth gains while eating Paleo.
I'm not saying this is a bad question, there are no bad questions when asked honestly, I just disagree with it conceptually speaking. It is one of those things that gives people the worng idea of the Paleo Diet in my opinion which is that they will lose weight if they eat a Paleo Diet and for many people that will never happen.
Began in April 2012 and have lost 80 lbs so far, including a pregnancy 8/12-4/13. More importantly, I have gained control over my glucose levels, began working out, have lowered triglycerides significantly, raised HDL, and am overall much healthier despite still having a another 60-80 lbs to lose.
I didn't go paleo to lose weight. I went paleo because I wanted to cure myself naturally of the typical SAD issues, address my chronic tummy troubles (bloating, gas, nausea, food intolerances), and treat my body with the respect and care it deserves so I can live a longer, healthier and happier life.
That being said, getting my paleo on did result in me losing 10kg of fat and gaining 6kg worth of muscle :)... Without having to try all that hard I may add!
I didn't begin Paleo to lose any weight...just to become healthier. I have definitely put on some good muscle though and probably put on weight overall
You forgot a category. I've gained weight. I've incorporated HIIT and heavy duty strength trainin when I went paleo. Before paleo, I lost 40 lbs. In the last 2+ years of paleo and training, I've gained back 10 lbs. Important thing to note: I didn't lose any belt size when I did 3 years of regular diet and exercise, even though I lost weight. In the last 2+ years, I've gone down 3 belt sizes. So, even though I've gained weight, I'd rather be slimming down and eating right.
I probably lost 10 kg on strict paleo, but regained it (not necessarily undesirable) loosening up the paleo restraints. I actually lost more weight on a simple SAD with calorie restriction.
d. Started October last year after seeing how good I felt with some trials at summer. First 50/50 paleo (still did sodas, energy drinks and occasional bread) until April when I finally stopped working night shift. Now 80/20 and 100% paleo foods. The only thing that I did off book, was drinking to much alcohol this summer. I have increased my sugar intake from fruits though, as keto really screws me up. Fasting is a breeze for me, and it shrinks my belly to eat less (to the right amount), but I haven't worked hard or done much exercise (a bit of running, some squats and pushups).
I love the pants size change: 42 to 36, and they are also getting loose now :)
I am going for g. but I am starting crossfit soon, so the muscle build-up probably adds to the weight.
I lost about 25lbs in 8 weeks or so, and I was really only 75-80% paleo during that time. Like others have said, paleo isn't entirely about losing weight, it seems to be a by-product of it. I still have another 15-20lbs myself to go before I'll change my diet to whatever fosters putting on a little more muscle.
Also note, I do sprints for about 30min 2x a week + lift weights 3 to 4 times a week.
The thing is, when were eating whole foods, were naturally cutting out all the sugary/high fructose foods/drinks, as well as, a lot of the starchy foods. This alone will be enough to cut most people's weight down.
Started in late March 2013, lost 55 lbs / 25 kg, also lost acne, dandruffs and kinda aggressive sweat. Feels great, have a lot of energy and better sleep. Now I am starting to excercise.
I lost 80 lbs over six months. And I've been weight stable at 150 lbs for two years since. Also my dad gained 15 lbs, but he was a twig. He now weighs 125 lbs.
15 pounds after about two months but more then that I feel awesome! My skin is looking better, I am sleeping better, and it is making me really commit to my health for the first time in my 36 years.
I have just started Paleo and havent lost any weight so far, I need to loose 2 stones (atleast) I am 5ft 4 39 years old and 12 stone. I have a sweet tooth and am not sure how to combat this
In 2.5 years on Paleo or PHD-style diets (and after a surgery that was impeding my ability to be physically active), I've lost about 15lbs. More significantly, I went from 25-ish BF% to 11% BF (so far). Needless to say, I've lost fat, and gained a good amount of muscle.
That's approximately 150lbs LBM / 50lbs BF 2.5 years ago to 165lbs LBM / 20lbs BF today; i.e. 30lbs of fat lost, 15 lbs of lean muscle gained.
If you asked me 2.5-ish years ago what my goal weight was, I probably would have said "170ish", which at 30lbs of fat lost, would actually have been a higher BF% of 12% than what I am at now, even though I'm heavier.
5 kg in 3 months!! and health problems getting better
g. Over 120 lbs in the past year, currently, though clearly I was a lot overweight. I can't say how much muscle I've gained in the gym vs. fat lost. I know as workouts have picked up, weight loss has slowed, and I'm still losing clothing sizes, so the 'leaning out' is happening yet. A bit to go, but FEELING so much better is the best part of all.
I lose more than I want to on paleo! I started at a healthy weight and have gone down 5-10 lbs. My weight is now borderline unhealthy. I eat nonstop!

I started paleo six weeks ago and in the six weeks I have lost 12 lbs and about 2 inches from my waist. My desire to start paleo - healthier lifestyle started when I hit a plateau. I exercise regularly (5 days a week- weights, Pilates, resistance training) and I run about two days a week. I toned everywhere except for my belly. I discovered it was my eating habits, not that I ate poorly, but I just hate the wrong things. My husband began paleo with me and has lost 20 lbs.
Try 1500 mg Glutamine. Take 1 capsule 20 -30 minutes before meals or 90 minutes - 2hours after meals. It will stop your cravings in their tracks. From the book, The diet cure, by Julia Ross. It is simply an amino acid, but it really works.
I used it when I went On a no sugar/no starches diet. It was a true miracle for me.
It seems like a lot of people seem to gain weight while losing inches which is awesome.
80 lbs in less than 11 months. Paleo WILL cause you to lose fat and inches, even without the fitness component.
I'm a 41 year-old female and lost 90 pounds over 7 months. I followed a hybrid Whole30/autoimmune protocol diet strictly for most of those months, and then it evolved into a pretty standard Paleo diet.
I've hit my goal weight and at this point I'm working on maintaining the weight loss. I have a history of yo-yo dieting and, for me, maintenance mode is the hardest part - but I truly feel that Paleo is something that I'll be able to stick with long-term.
I gained weight (7 or 8 lbs), but it was a combination of at the same time stopping soccer due to a broken leg, and starting an orchard with a lot of heavy lifting and digging. I am definitely thicker in my torso. I also note that paleo food is more digestible, less or no fried food, no grains, more fat, one ends up eating more without feeling uncomfortable.
a. i have been doing it since January 2013 and haven't lost but 2 pounds. I feel better but not what i was hoping for...
b. for me. I have done paleo for two months. I am now down a solid 8 lbs. This is significant for me because I am not overweight. 8 solid good pounds! I'm so happy. I've tried vegan and all other stuff, but I just gained weight after three weeks. I'e also noticed that my muscle tone is much better around my arms and abs. So far, paleo is just a godsend.
