My friend has sensitivites to all sorts of foods. For a long time she's eaten variations of a very good paleo diet, tried all sorts of therapies and never lots a single gram. Nothing. Nada. Never. And she doesn't eats a lot of calories (she's simply not that hungry).
So now she made a change. Instead of eating just a bit of those foods she reacts too (80/20 rule), she's eating zero. Before she ate quantities small enough so she doesn't get a reaction, but now she's cut them completely out.
For the first time in over a decade, she's actually lost a few kilos over the last weeks! For her this is a remarkable accomplishment.
So I was wondering if others found that the weight didn't come off until they were super strict. Maybe 80/20 doesn't work for everyone? Did anyone else have this experience?
Maybe it's something worth trying if weight loss is stalled or never started.

hi Glither, acc to Dr Keith Scott-Mumby - it's the frequency not quantitiy of eating the food you are intolerant to. I find i "blow up" from different foods - my weight will go up 3-4 lbs overnight, and takes about 4 days for it to come down and tummy to deflate (weird ordinary stuff, like lamb, scallops, flour) - so each person is different. When i decided to just stop milk and flour my body dropped 10 pounds in 10 days - no dieting, just deflating and calming down. Go figure
Even thinking about food is bad for weight loss and I guess what she cheated with are rather addictive kinds with opioids. It's not a rule for all time but I have no suspicion that it can be true.
Yes, if a food is causing a reaction, it's also causing inflammation, an immune response and all sorts of negative side effects. There may be no visible reaction in small doses, but perhaps there is internally. Obviously, once it's low enough it will no longer have a negative effect, but the dose that makes the poison is different for each person.
