Hi everyone, Lately I've been scaling up my fat intake by adding coconut oil, coconut butter, coconut milk, and some ghee into the mix as before I don't think I was getting enough fat into my diet (I'm wrapping up a month on paleo). While I've... (more)
Alright, I seem to have had a particularly bad idea this morning. I took a TBSP of coconut oil soon after I woke this morning, as I was really hungry and wanted to have my actual breakfast before I get on the road for a long drive today. Drank... (more)
I've been Paleo for two months now (No grains, sugar, dairy, legumes). And since day one I've eaten at least one egg a day. I buy cage/hormone free brown eggs from either Trader Joes or Whole Foods. About a week ago, I noticed a dulling painful... (more)
Try eating just the yolk... you may have a issue with the whites alone (ovo leptins). See if you still have an issue. If that is the case, you may just have to eat something other than eggs, or just egg yolk.
Hi all - I'm new to Paleo Hacks and I'm loving all the great advice on here! So here's my question: My 5year old has been having digestive issues for years. Since going Paleo last fall things have improved but are still not always that good. Since... (more)
I've been following a strict paleo diet for the last three weeks - Whole30-style, zero exceptions (so zero grains, legumes, or dairy), with very minimal fruit/sweet potato intake. Lots of things are better, but there is one strange side effect... (more)
Hey, everytime after eating bacon I get a bad stomach ache. The bacon is organic quality from my farmers market, but it tastes really salty after frying it. Could it be a problem with the salt? And when, what kind of bacon should I ask for? Kind... (more)
I am out of town visiting family. Unbeknown to us until we arrived, half of the family is sick with some kind of stomach bug causing vomiting and diarrhea. For those that have consulted a doctor, the doctors have recommended a diet of items such... (more)
I didn't have a single GI issue during the first 30 days of Paleo. To be honest, I didn't feel any drastic improvement like people claim here (and I didn't cheat). Towards the end, my stress levels from work were really bad + slight depression... (more)
I remember reading somewhere that drinking before/after (10 minutes or so) and during the meal dilutes gastric juice PH level in the stomach and therefore contributes to lesser digestion quality. Does anyone have any more details (time, amount,... (more)

I recently started adding fish oil supplementation to my paleo diet but I find that every time I take it my stomach starts to burn. Not necessarily an upset stomach just more like general pain. Is this normal when you first begin taking fish oil?... (more)
Costco sells fish oil in enteric coated capsules. This means they break down until they get to your small intestine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enteric_coating). They have a kind of gross vanilla flavor to them, though.
I started the Paleo diet 15 days ago. (Eating fish but no meat). My overall energy and body feels very good on this diet. I don't find myself having any sort of side effects except from the diet with the exception of severe stomach aches. ... (more)

They don't sit well with you mentally or physically? Because if it is a problem with taste, you can chop the liver/kidney up and mix into a meatloaf or burger patties. You won't be able to taste it.

Hello, I've been eating primal/paleo since around Thanksgiving (7 weeks). I tried paleo in March of last year but that didn't last long. I've gone from weighing 225lbs down to 205lbs which I'm pretty pumped about. I seem to have more energy,... (more)
Maybe it would help to eat more live sauerkraut, yogurt and pickles and skip some of the nuts for awhile. Sounds like your intestinal bacteria are confused right now!

I've been trying to drink coconut milk as part of a shake for breakfast lately, but it's been causing quite a stir in my stomach.. Anyone else having issues with coconut milk acting as a diuretic?
If you're talking about coconut milk, you may just be having trouble dealing with all the fat. It can act as a laxative, not necessarily as a diuretic. You may need to start slowly, then ramp up the fat over time so your body can deal with it. If... (more)
