Trying to go Paleo and grains were pretty much my thing, I need some ideas for new Grab/On the go snack foods. I'm a college studen so the cheaper/easier the bettter. Especially if you can find items at Publix/Target. But Wholeoods is ok too.
I know that some of us don't believe in snacking as part of the Paleo lifestyle and some of us only snack on whole foods (fruits, boiled eggs, avocados, etc), but some of us still do enjoy snacking on prepared healthy snack foods (everything... (more)
Hi all, My son goes to public elementary school. He takes lunch from home but he is tempted by snacks sold at the cafeteria. Here is the list of snacks sold in school: Doritos, Pringles, Scooby Doo gummies, Fruit by the foot, Rice... (more)
Hello everyone, I am a 21 year old woman who has been doing Paleo strictly for about 3 months. I am a full time student working two part time jobs and am having a hard time staying motivated to eat "healthy" paleo. During stressful times... (more)
Good Afternoon, What are some snacks that fit this lifestyle which can be purchased at walmart and which are ready to eat? I can think of the fruits there, but since I am in the initial stage and I need to lose a few pounds, I want to limit the... (more)
I have just started Paleo and am on my third day. I'm absolutely ravenous, but I am trying to increase the fats each day until I get used to this new lifestyle. I'm also a distance runner, so I am often hungry anyway. I woke up this morning and... (more)
So I have an extremely limited diet, due to many foods worsening my rheumatoid arthritis inflammation. Basically, everything worsens inflammation except fish, avocados, and vegetables that aren't nightshades, starchy, or sweet. Fermented veggies... (more)
I like the Snack Sticks at US Wellness meats. Can you do coconut? If so, one of my goto snacks is Coconut Chips from Tropical Traditions. I sometimes mix it with a little beef jerky for a nut-less trail mix.
My husband is currently deployed and while this is his 4th or 5th deployment, his previous ones were on large aircraft carriers or in the desert where there was an ample food supply with many choices he could modify. This deployment is different.... (more)
I usually eat a good-portioned breakfast and wait a good hour or two for my food to digest prior to working out. I find that???s how I perform best (when coupled with a good night???s rest, of course). But on some days, like tomorrow, I have very... (more)
I would go with a banana. The protein and fat from the egg won't help/digest fast enough, and the sweet potato takes a while to digest as well. Have a banana 30 min before and you should be fine
I eat a can of Beach Cliff Sardines (in water, tomato sauce, or mustard sauce) 3-5 times a week. They are a inexpensive, tasty, and healthy. Pre-paleo, I enjoyed them on crackers. I have now been eating them plain since going paleo, and am... (more)
I find myself eating tons of peanut butter and I can't help but think there has to be a better high fat or high protein snack? Beef Jerky is expensive so thats not an option. Thanks
Peanut butter is NOT Paleo! Peanuts are legumes, not nuts. Choose almond or macadamia or coconut butter, much better options. Other high-fat snacks: olives, bacon, avocados, canned sardines.
I understand that too much sugar is bad and that dried fruit/berries contain high concentrations of sugar. I also understand that dried fruit/berries are easy to overconsume. However, I'd love to have a carb filled snack that doesn't spoil within... (more)
Has anyone ever tried these? http://sensibleportions.elsstore.com/view/category/12571-veggie-straws---chips/ I buy them at Costco (in the bulk bag of course..ugh). They satisfy my salty, crunchy snack cravings. Does anyone have ideas on how... (more)
nowhere on their website do they list the ingredients or post the nutrition label and they believe grains and soy are healthy....not this kid; i'd rather crunch on some celery or baked kale.
For some strange reason I have craved potato chips for my whole life. The first year I was away from my family and was able to decide what to eat, I spent a whole year eating nothing but potato chips (and some other salty snacks), beer, coke and... (more)
http://www.primalspiritfoods.com/products_flavor_details.php I encountered these at the cafeteria at work and thought "Wow, a Paleo/Primal brand." Then I read the ingredients. These guys should change the name of their product. What do you think? (more)
I don't hear much about cashews on the various paleo blogs I've looked at, and I'm wondering why. They're mighty tasty, and seem to stack up well against other nuts. For instance, compare 1 oz of cashews: Total Fat: 13.0g Saturated Fat:... (more)
I know low carb gets the main focus here, but I have been looking for viable high carb paleo options that I could, say, eat at work on a workout day with minimal prep/no need for refrigeration. I have been microwaving sweet potatoes but I am... (more)
Bananas. Plain and simple, come with their own wrappers.
When having a fruit snack, is it ok/good to eat it alone or should you add a protein or a fat to the snack with the fruit? Different "diets" suggest different answers to that in relation to insulin response, hunger satiety, digestion etc., and... (more)
what are some paleo options for a snack to take for after my 1hour glucose test? My godmother keeps saying "peanut butter and jelly sandwich" but thats out of the question. I was thinking some hard boiled eggs, a plum and some coconut milk... (more)
What is everyone's opinion on eating before bed? I've always eaten before going to bed. One sick thing I used to do was if I knew I had to be up early, I would pound a few tacos from Taco Bell and ride the insulin crash to sleepy-town. I obviously... (more)

I never really though of fruit as real food that you would eat in a meal. To me, fruit falls in the same category as nuts and seeds. They're good as snacks and that's it. I think they are nature's candy. I find it so easy to overeat or binge on... (more)
