Since going paleo, alcohol gives me an elevated heart rate which can last for up to 12 hours after drinking. This disrupts my sleep significantly so I cut back a lot, couple glasses of red wine once a week. I have tried different supplements, less carbs, more carbs, limes, no limes, I can't figure out why it happens or how to stop it.

Have a family member with this issue... for her, red wine appears to be the culprit. If you choose to drink; limit to max 1 drink per day average for women & max 2 drinks per day average for men.
Simple drinks clear sprits, non-sugar / non-diet mixe (yeah... vodka soda's about it), red wine (might be the problem), white. No exoctic, fruity, sugary.... from a paleo POV.

Simple solution is the one I adopted. Don't drink it. Many benefits for me, less weight, better sleep, etc. For me it was a slow poision.
