I've been paleo for a while now. I have managed to lose about 50lbs and keep it off for about 4-5 years. But during this whole time I have wanted to lose an additional 15-20lbs to be at my ideal weight. I bounce between 190-200lbs. I'm 5'6"... (more)

I've been doing the whole paleo thing for a few months now. I initially started it to lose weight, and to eat clean. I am overweight by about 70 lbs, I do yoga a couple of times a week and walk 20 min a day. I've got the whole food diet down, and... (more)
Yes you should be eating more. If you want to increase your metabolic rate though you need physical activity. Phil Campbell and Doug Mcguff both have good advice on the subject if you YouTube them.
I can imagine a few scenarios in which one might become overweight through no fault of their own. For example, if you break a bone and you're put on bedrest and thus you become extremely sedentary. And even then, assuming you're not already... (more)
please tell me how to be a better person and not get super annoyed when i have to endure a conversation where two overweight people decide to swap diet advice. it's so difficult to listen to them speak with such arrogance, authority and... (more)
Okay so I've bought in and decided to give this a try to see how it might help. I am active but fat and as I enjoy lifting weights and know that many athletes eat Paleo I though why not. My question is will it severly impair me to eat a serving of... (more)
Fruit should not be a problem in moderation. It may, in fact, allow you to feel more comfortable with your meals in general. If you do have sugar addiction issues, that would be a different story.
These episodes I've been watching have consistenly been showing overweight people eating TONS of meat. Why are they so big? I know they're eating other bad foods too, but I don't understand how they could get THIS big by eating lots of meat! Any... (more)
Fat people also buy more diet books. Diet books must make people fat! In all seriousness, though, to point to a single factor and attempt to blame everything on it makes no sense.
Hi everybody... first posting, apologies for the tl;dr crowd I am 34 and have been overweight since 7th grade and my highest weight was approx 310. I have also suffered from debilitating migraines since I was 13 and had strep-induced psoriasis... (more)
I've been eating Paleo officially for 4 days now. I want to know if I'm eating right. Most information out there is gender neutral so I'm kind of confused with how much of what I should be eating. Female, age 23 5 feet tall I currently weigh 203... (more)

I'm trying to lose weight and I'm starting to think I might be struggling against a body-fat set point that is higher than optimal. I have had success losing weight in the past, especially when my environment changed significantly. For example,... (more)
I don't really buy into the set-point theories either. There's clearly a "minimum body fat point" that the hypothalamus does not want you to go below which triggers hypothalamic austerity measures. This will lead to increased hunger and decreased... (more)
I've been primal/paleo for 18 months. In the first 6 months I lost almost 50 lbs (probably had 130+ to lose). Then I stalled. For a year. Recently I've started gaining. Admittedly I've been kinda lax on french fries, paleo "treats" and dark... (more)
Hello, I'm new to the Paleo lifestyle, and so far I'm not having much success. After a week attempting to eat healthy I feel like I've gotten nowhere and it's utterly depressing. I love meat and vegetables and know that I can live happily on a... (more)
I am new to the site and need some help. I am 36 years old, about 112 lbs overweight and wanted to know the safest way to start a paleo diet & drop weight. I dont sleep that well, normally 3-5hrs per night, 2hr nap in afternoon, I do actually... (more)

Okay, maybe it's not Whole Foods Market per se, but maybe the Whole Foods Market lifestyle? I have been shopping at WF for a few years now. It all started when I became a vegan. I went to WF to get the organic vegan food with no preservatives... (more)
Hi everybody, I recently started to live more paleo and I'm very interested in incorporating the barefoot paradigm into my life. Now I'm still very much obese (100 lbs too much) and also have flat feet. My feet are pronating when I walk/run. Is... (more)
I just found out my dad has insulin resistance/pre diabetes, something I suspected for a long time. He has been a yo-yo dieter for as long as I can remember, but only once or twice has he lost a significant amount of weight (at least to the point... (more)
Reading through posts, I find people are frightened when they gain weight on Paleo. Often, their weight was too low to begin with and their body is reaching a more natural state. I feel as if gaining weight can have significant benefits in... (more)

Little history first: My weight has always been fluctuating. But it always averaged around 110-120lbs (5ft, female). Last summer, my eating disorders got worse and I got down to 105 lbs with low cal (700-1000 cal), low fat and a lot of cardio.... (more)
My sister, 27 years old, about 5'2-ish, is overweight, and the dr's told her she needed to cut out cholesterol and lose 70lbs in 3 months. Our "diets" are COMPLETE opposites. I am convinced that going primal is healthy living, but she insists it... (more)
My question has to do with someone who develops leptin resistance. It's been said that one way to tell if you are leptin resistant is to look in the mirror because you'll have gained significant body fat. But isn't it also true that leptin... (more)
Maybe it's the city I live in (which has a high obesity rate), but why is it that 90% of the time when an 'expert' tells me my 'crazy diet' is unhealthy, that person is overweight? Are they in denial about their own self? If my neighbor's garden... (more)
Hi. I've been eating fully primal for about 2.5 months now, and for the year prior to that I was largely gluten/dairy free. I've lost about 35lb in the last 2.5 months by being primal and focussing on keeping my carbs low (I try to be under 50g a... (more)
