Another one is - if it is REALLY fresh, there will be sap exuding from the bottom of the stalk. If the bottom of the stalk is dry and woody - it is getting on in age!

Nuts should be eaten in small quantities, like 5 or 10 at a time, and the huge gallon-sized drums of nuts fr Costco are very likely to encourage over-eating. I wouldn't buy nuts in bulk like that, just IMHO.

If you want affordable organic peppers, you can use dried or grow your own. Whole Foods has the dry powders avail. For fresh peppers, I grow Serrano, Thai spicy, poblano, and jalape??o. They are virtually maintenance free, just water them.
