Get more physical activity rather than cutting more calories. I don't see any reason (save medical emergencies) that an adult should go below 1,200 calories per day.

FWIW, I think you may be eating too few calories. Perhaps you need to replace the carbs with fat.

Gaining weight is a function of energy balance (calories consumed over caloires expended), not which particular diet you follow (atkins, paleo, south beach, grapefruit, cabbage soup, whatever).
