Looking for some serious hacking...After 20 years of various diets/new eating plans (you name them, I've tried them) and zero success in weight loss or weight management plus various failed attempts of severe exercise programs (Body for Life,... (more)
I've tried listerine strips, gum, I drink lots of water and nothing seems to mask the taste. Everything in my mouth tastes salty and I hate it.
Yes, if you're entering ketosis for the first time, as soon as your mitochondria start noticing the new fuel source, they'll switch to using it, when they do, the acetone breath will go away. Takes a few days upto a week or two.
Hello, Yesterday afternoon I tested myself with Keto-diastix strips and I was at 40 mg/dL of ketone, this morning I only got 5mg/dL. Was ketosis still active? From what I understood ketosis is an ON/OFF process, either you test negative for... (more)
I've been trying to educate myself on ketosis both for fat loss and for increased flexibility (decreased appetite, clarity of thought, ability to fast more easily etc.) but the more information I get the more confused I become. Recently, I've... (more)
For those of you who try to maintain your ketosis where do you get most of the fat in your diet? My default when going low carb is to replace most of the carbs with protein but this seems to be a mistake. So when you're eating less than 50, or... (more)
I recently went low-carb, but find that I'm missing a lot of the old foods I used to eat.. but I like the way LC makes me feel and that is enough to keep me motivated. Would it be more benificial to stay LC all the time and deal with the cravings... (more)
Just trying an experiment and I am 3 days into a ketogenic diet. Planning on sticking with if for 30-60 days and longer if I dig it. So I know it is "normal" to have cold hands in ketosis but I had two questions - 1- What is the... (more)
If im understanding this correctly, the main objective (besides eating healthier) of a paleo diet is to make it so that you burn fat vs carbs for fuel. If i have this right, the only way to make that switch is to put your body into ketosis. From... (more)
I've been using intermittent fasting for the last week (One 24 hour fast in addition to a 12 hour fast daily) and have experienced dramatically increased mood, at times I'm euphoric. I no longer have blood sugar drops after a few hours like I used... (more)
My skin isn't dry but the last time I went into ketosis (and first time also), my skin got so dry, my hands where dry and it looked like the "scales" on it were larger if you know what I mean. It was worse when I woke up. My lips also got really... (more)
I guess is because once you don't eat too much carbs, you lose water from the muscles at the beginning. I think you should drink more water. But i'm not an expert, sorry.
Is it necessary to eat some fructose? Is there such thing as fructose deficiency? If you never eat fruit and only eat starch for your carb consumption in order to avoid liver glycogen repletion is there any long term concerns to eliminating... (more)
I go walking everyday on my lunch break, when i eat VLC i find i don't have much energy, i lack that spring in my step, if i go up to 200g carbs then it comes back, but then the last 2 days i've been fasting, all i've eaten is one avocado... (more)
tatical energy is a survial mechanism. Your body responds because it needs to in order to get more energy (food). Carbs are not the devil, 5 day fasts are not health seeking.
So, I have read a few posts about people experiencing bad breathe and perspiration after they enter ketosis. Has anyone experienced the opposite? I have noticed in the last week or so, since I went back to a keto diet that my BO has gone away. (more)
What would be the effects of eating 70-85% of your calories from fat in the form of coconut oil, 10-20% from protein in the form of various meats, and 5-10% from carbohydrate in the form of various fibrous vegetables? I understand that... (more)
70% of your calories being completely void of nutrition? Does not sound like a good plan.
I've done ketosis before and am trying it out again for a few weeks before my trip down to San Diego. Honestly I'm trying to get from 10% bf to around 8% or so (not a Paleo reason...sue me). My main concern is loss of muscle despite hearing it is... (more)

So I've been trying to do a ketogenic diet for about five or six weeks now and I'm still feeling like crap. Assuming that my ketone levels were not up to nutritional ketosis levels, I started testing my ketone levels and they've been... (more)
Several times I've tried sticking to an extremely low-carb diet (75% fat, 20% protein, 5% carbs). And each time I've tried, I've gotten the weirdest symptoms: extreme fatigue, anxiety, mental fog, fever/chills, weakness/dizziness, and heart... (more)
I was enjoying being paleo while eating an average of 50-65 carbs/day with no grain. Then I talked to someone who said I had to eat no more than 20/day and must be in ketosis to lose weight of course I decided to try it. Well I was no longer... (more)
I'm 15, in good health, and at about 15% body fat. Yesterday was my first low carb day. I skipped breakfast and worked out really hard for about 2 hours, which most likely depleted all of my glycogen stores. That day, all I ate was about 35... (more)

I've been paleo for nearly 6 months, and have lost 20 pounds so far, but am starting to stall. I'd like to lose 20-30 more via a low-carb, high-fat ketotic paleo diet.I've been in ketosis for about a week now, and I feel good. I'm not abnormally... (more)
Get more physical activity rather than cutting more calories. I don't see any reason (save medical emergencies) that an adult should go below 1,200 calories per day.
Last year I tried paleo for 6 months, and basically gave myself 6 months of blood sugar swings and gradual body composition losses as my body insisted on cannibalizing its muscles instead of burning fat. Recently I decided to try a low-carb diet... (more)
