I have total cholesterol 3.52 and total hdl 4.2. I'm eating one avocado every day with olive oil dressing. How can I lower my total hdl please?

Hamana, you need to edit your question & correct (& add more results if you have them)...

...hdl is a component (part) of your total cholesterol, therefore your hdl number has to be smaller than your total chol.

& add any other numbers; ldl/vldl/trigs etc, if you have them

And why would you want to lower your HDL? the LDL is concerning -- when it is coupled with other risk factors like obesity/ smoking/ etc.

There is nothing wrong with your numbers that much .I would suggest that you read a bit more on how to lower cholesterol and how to properly understand test results. Read here: http://loweringcholesterolguide.com/understanding-test-results/

Make sure your fasting does not cross border and starts working against you.Make sure you get enough vitamins,protein and fibers.

Stop worrying about cholesterol. It's inflammation that you should check. Get a C-Reactive Protein (CRP) blood test for inflammation. The only cholesterol that you should be concerned with is Oxidized Cholesterol.

I believe a healthy HDL cholesterol level is at least 40. As for cholesterol, avocadoes and all plants do not contain any cholesterol. Only MEAT contains cholesterol.

I believe a recommended HDL number is at least 40. Also, avocados do not contain any cholesterol. Plants of any kind do not contain any cholesterol. Only meat contains cholestrol.

you total serum cholesterol is 3.52 mmol/L (or 135 mg/dL) yet your HDL is 4.2 mmol/L (or 162 mg/dL).

This is impossible. You cannot have a higher HDL than total Cholesterol (since HDL is a component of your total Cholesterol). If you were mistaken and 3.52 is your LDL, then your total cholesterol would be 300 something. According to the LecturePad library you would be in a category that no one else in the world has been documented to exist in.

Thus you may want to work with a doctor rather than an online forum.

Stop exercising, eat sugar, don't eat fat. And then you will lower your HDL. You might now want to do that.
