How have your goals (fitness, weight, life) changed because of paleo?
When I was eatting a SAD I used dream about losing 80 pounds of weight and then get my picture in that before and after section of Men's Health.
Now that I have lost 80 pounds through eating real foods and Crossfitting my goals and understanding of how to live have changed.
My new goal is to get my baseline (500m row, 40 squats, 30 sit ups, 20 push ups 10 pull ups) to sub 6 minutes.
My new weight lose goal is to get to 10% body fat by end of 2011.

When I started about a year ago, I was trying to become a manager at mcdonalds. This spring I look forward to my first batch of chickens. And if things go well, stepping up to cattle in a few years. Right now I don't own enough grass.
I started Paleo to fix my gut issues. It has been about 5 months now and I am about 90 percent better. My goals now are to put on at least 15 lbs of muscle, which I am finding quite difficult.
in the past, ive always been so focused on the number on the scale going down, to the detriment of everything else. i started this diet with the primary goal of managing my MS, and a secondary goal of weight loss. immediately i started feeling so much better, and was able to exercise for the first time in YEARS so my goals changed. frankly, after birthing two babies, almost losing one of them in a horrible and tragic accident, and being diagnosed with a chronic disease, life was put into perspective for me. my goals now are long life, healthy life, happy life. im losing weight in the process which is necessary to all of those things, but its not the goal, in and of itself. i have small goals, like adding ten pounds to my deadlift, or running farther, or working to perfect a yoga pose ive been struggling with. i slip back into the scale-watching every now and then, but (i know it sounds corny) i look at the pictures of my daughter on a ventilator in PICU at ten months old, and suddenly my dress size seems like the most petty, selfish, superficial thing in the world.
My pre-Paleo weight loss goal was "get to 180 lbs" (at the time, I weighed about 220 at 5'10" and had weighed that much for over half a year - ridiculous levels of body fat). But that 180 lbs was somehow a magic number for me.
Since becoming aware late last year of the paleo diet continuum I got more and more intrigued by the possibilities. At the beginning of this year I did Tim Ferriss' "slow-carb" diet and lost about a total of 12 lbs. This is really my first couple of weeks on a "real" paleo diet and I have continued to drop weight - although I feel better physically now than I did when I was eating all those beans.
But that's a roundabout way of getting to my point - my weight loss goal has changed since "going paleo". Where it used to be "Magic 180" it's now "screw the scale, I want to be a lean mean strong machine and look great in my clothes (and out ;) )and whatever weight/bodyfat % that is, I will know it when I see it".
I am developing some strength training goals as well but am still experimenting a bit.
