Has anyone else noticed that the food you used to eat tastes like a vile concoction of chemicals??
Yesterday I stupidly thought "ooh- let's have a tiny piece of this Terry's chocolate orange that my other half just opened."
It was in my mouth for about a second before I spat it out and rinsed with some cold water. It was awful!! Tastes like nail polish remover with a nasty synthetic scent of orange furniture polish! I whisked a piece out to my partner and asked him to taste it to make sure I wasn't going mental, and he just chewed it up, swallowed it and said "it's fine. Same as always."
Either I'm ill or my taste buds can taste the chemicals now!! If the later is the case I am disturbed at how well he could just eat it and claim it tasted fine!

Yes, definitely. Even when I was heroically trying to be vegan (or is it whimpilly?) my taste changed to where I couldn't eat processed food, especially artificial flavors and anything with a lot of unidintifyable and unpronounceable ingredients. Now that I am high fat and Paleo, I can't deal with bread anymore. I tried to have a sandwich with rice bread the other day and it tasted like eating something packed in sand. My most recent experiment is with salt. I've been reading Stefansson's "My life with the Eskimo" and noticed that the native Eskimo really hated the taste of salt. Now that I'm reducing it, the taste of fat is finally apparent. It tastes sweet. Only a little sweet because I'm not fully recovered, but I was very surprised. I also had a bad diet cola problem, but now it tastes like water that's washed over cardboard and then drained thorugh a gutter before being artificially sweetened. Yummy, eh?

Oh absolutely, and another thing that changes is your perception of how sweet things are. Before Paleo, I thought coconut water tasted, well, mostly like water. Now it's very sweet. I'm afraid to try a soda, it would probably taste like liquid sugar. :)
Cravings will also change, you'll actually seek out the foods that contain micronutrients that your body needs. (Some folks here will say that's BS, but I find it's true for me.)
When you eat better food the deficiencies of the old food are apparent. For me it's salty greasy restaurant food. The salt basically masks bad flavor. The grease films on the inside of my mouth. Bacon fat and butter aren't the same as the industrial cooking fats.
