Shaky in the morning - thought Paleo wouldn't do this?

My normal routine is to eat dinner about 7, then I don't eat again until lunch the next day. Since I've been trying Paleo (only a week) I am very shaky about 10-11 am. I have to eat to get my blood sugar up and eat IMMEDIATLY. It just hit me again today. I guess I can't combine Paleo and 12 -16 hour fasting! Does anyone else have this problem?

I'm always 16-18 hours between dinner & brunch, no shakes at all, easily done every day.

just to clarify, i get the impression from your Q that before paleo you were doing the daily 12-16 hr fasting without any issues, is that correct

Any particular reason why you need to fast everyday until lunch? Why not just eat when you feel hungry? Paleo =/= fasting.

This may smooth out over time, but you need to pay attention to WHAT you are eating. Are you eating enough natural fats? Sufficient protein? Are you eating too many carbs? If you have insulin issues (that's a long fast so, it's hard to tell if you do or not) try to go easy on fruit, starchy veggies, and natural sweeteners. And I agree with those above that you may want to hold off on IF until you're fully adapted to paleo.

"eat dinner about 7, then I don't eat again until lunch the next day." That's too long. I get to bed later, so I have a snack after 7. You do need breakfast. Anybody should be shaky by 11am if no breakfast.

Shouldn't need bulletproof coffee but if you are transitioning it might make it smoother without going crazy with breakfast. But I am also not a firm believer in IF. I think it's beneficial but I don't think you have to be dogmatic about needing to do it every day

I don't think you should need any special thing like bulletproof coffee. Once your body is fat adapted if you just load up an fat and carbs with a big dinner you shouldn't be very hungry in the morning. I do IF by accident. Before Paleo I needed breakfast first thing every day. Now I take it or leave it depending how I feel. I also wouldn't force IF - it should come pretty naturally when you're ready and won't be a major burden.

Get your Paleo diet working for you a few months then try IF again. I do it without any issues, but only started IF after more than a year on Paleo.
