Is there any evidence that fasting without water is better than with? I have read things like 'one day of dry fasting is better than 3 days of water fasting', but can this be true? If it were, what is the logic? I thought water was used to clear... (more)
Going without water is a very bad idea. There are no health benefits from it, only risks. People can die after just a few days without water in hot weather. It's an extremely stupid thing to do. Abstaining from food is entirely different... (more)
I finally got around to buying a glucose meter and I have been playing around with it lately, and it seems like my blood sugar jumps all over the place. I tested yesterday morning after an overnight fast, and my blood sugar was 92, I then ate a... (more)
I am 5'2" and 110 lbs. My eating this past week has been ravenous and resulted in some binges and I think it may have been because of restrictions in nuts, fruit, and starches. But, I am also wondering if my leptin is messed up again or my brain... (more)

Most of the people I've found doing them are Vegans and so I was curious if any Paleos had done a long water fast ex. 7days on spring/distilled water only. I'm trying to heal some skin issues and feel like my body needs spring cleaning. (I'm... (more)
Hello! I'm very confused about how to break the three day water fast I'm on. I've heard the more conventional idea that one should have only fruits/juices after a fast, as the digestive system starts to reboot. However, I've also heard that it... (more)
- Butter Oil

- Coconut Oil
- Intermittent Fasting
Other than the desirable and frothy texture that resuts in using a blender, what difference does blending coconut oil or just stirring it in do? My goals are to supress my appetite until lunch time for weight loss.
I was just thinking of this earlier and was wondering what people's thoughts were....Like did they really eat maybe once a day or less? (I doubt they were having 3 meals a day, were they?) and If so, would it be a bad idea to follow suit? I mean,... (more)

I came from the LeanGains camp where you probably shouldn't be consuming anything above 10 or 15 calories during your fasting period. I've noticed a lot of people talk about using coffee, or coffee with MCT oil or butter, until they "break" their... (more)
I agree. I believe the real benefits of fasting come from the autophagy process. When you consume pure fat, even though it does not illicit an insulin response, it still provides useable exogeneous energy for your body, so it doesn't have to tap... (more)
Are the benefits of fasting due to less stress on your gut and if so would a low calorie form of fasting be as beneficial, say eating a few egg yolks and coconut oil/butter a day? Or would this confuse your body and negate the positive effects of... (more)
I go walking everyday on my lunch break, when i eat VLC i find i don't have much energy, i lack that spring in my step, if i go up to 200g carbs then it comes back, but then the last 2 days i've been fasting, all i've eaten is one avocado... (more)
tatical energy is a survial mechanism. Your body responds because it needs to in order to get more energy (food). Carbs are not the devil, 5 day fasts are not health seeking.
I've done ketosis before and am trying it out again for a few weeks before my trip down to San Diego. Honestly I'm trying to get from 10% bf to around 8% or so (not a Paleo reason...sue me). My main concern is loss of muscle despite hearing it is... (more)

Did you drink coffee before your workout by any chance?
Simple question, would there be a benefit to eating only vegetables and a little fruit once or twice a week and then the other days eating a paleo style diet? Intermittent fasting allows 500 calories during the day (without protein) and that would... (more)
