36oz of Red Bull has probably 4X the caffeine of one of those 5HE. If you can get away with drinking one 5HE you'd be ahead. Caffeine and low-carb will put you on the fast track to adrenal fatigue. Especially if you're basically pulling an all nighter.

It does have some sucralose and preservatives, and of course a fair bit of caffeine. And large doses of certain vitamins and amino acids. I didn't really see anything that would make think that it's really toxic. Problem is, it could be habit forming and on a regular basis some of the vitmins/aminos could be toxic. Niacin is thought to be toxic to the liver in large doses...

I am more thinking of the situations where I have been up for 18 hours and need to drive for 3 hours to get home due to work or something. I ussually take this time to drink about 36oz of Red Bull, but I want to find something better.

Same here... not looking for any energy supplements. I think taking energy shots is an indication that your diet is not where it needs to be.

It works, and it is probably better than a 36 oz Red Bull. It has less caffeine and some vitamin B.

Best solution to your problem: pull over and take a 20 minute nap. That almost always results in me being fully awake for another 60-90 minutes of driving, and I can just repeat as needed.

I use this product when I am desperate. For instance, if I am on a long road trip and I'm falling asleep. I would rather drink a few ounces of chemical-shit-storm rather than fall asleep at the wheel. In comparing 5-hour-energy with similar products, I found the carbs on this one to be negligible. Yes, I know they are all terrible, but this is the least of the terrible for me.

No idea, since going paleo, lack of energy has never been problem.

It is artificial energy, and while it may be a lovely band-aid for the short term, it will burn out your adrenal glands for the long term.

I've never had this product but if you are on the road and have a long drive ahead of you and are sleepy then you better pull your ass over and take a nap. Lol. Save a life.

If you are still tired then something like this may do the trick. If it will keep you awake then I say go for it. Or, simply snacking on something like salted pistachios might do the trick too. Wouldn't salt help a bit?
