Fruits are either acidic (citrus) or sugary (bananas), both of which are cavity promoting. Nuts, seeds, legumes, and grains have phytic acid, a compound that binds to calcium, magnesium, and zinc. What good is the magnesium in almonds if we... (more)

Do carnivorous animals run on ketones or do they run on a mixture of fat and glucose (gluconeogenesis)? Are they simply more efficient at converting protein to glucose than humans? Any information would be appreciated.
Or at least why doesn't the meat from other meat-eaters (carnivores or omnivores) feature very heavily in modern day diets? Is eating carnivores Paleo? Off the top of my head I think of dogs (Koreans) and snakes (in parts of the mid-west and... (more)
I think I'm going total carnivore, I seem to fell better on days with minimal botanical input. It jibes with my firm belief that the hunter came a long, long time before the gatherer. So I've broadened my taste for meat into liver and tongue and... (more)
It is my second day on a zero carb diet.. all meat/eggs. I feel SUPER tired for some reason.. My main goal right now is to cut out all sugar and eventually lose all cravings for it. I tend to binge eat on sugary food and if I can get rid of... (more)
As I am following our ancestral diet, I coudn't very well keep feeding my dog (an American Cocker Spaniel) the shitty kibble from the grocery store anymore. I did the research and am now feeding a raw food diet to her. Like me, she is healthy, fit... (more)
Considering all the comments I get on my answers and blogs when discussing this, I think it deserves its own question. I know several people online and offline who follow this diet. It involves eating mostly grassfed steak cooked in... (more)

All I know is that when I was vegan/vegetarian I was a cranky, constipated bitch most of the times. Now, i'm happier, healthier, enjoying my fat and meat like a crazy person and wishing all to live long and prosper. 'Nuff said :)
I read somewhere that when your body doesn't have to spend energy digesting food, it uses that energy to repair the body. I have also noticed that when I fast on a zero carb diet I have more energy. Is there any science behind a one meal a day... (more)
I now eat one HUGE protein/carb meal on days when I lift heavy. Then I won't eat again for 24 hours. Otherwise, I eat twice a day, ZC-VLC Paleo, spaced about 7-8 hours apart. It works!
For me, the last several months have been rife with self-experimentation. I've done minimal meat, Nightshade-free, Paleo-zone, high-carb paleo, and now I'm looking to try all-meat or minimal veggie. I'm wondering what other's experiences have been... (more)

Not a question, but I've seen other posts of this type, so I think it's okay. I need to get this off my chest because it disturbs me when people claim we couldn't have evolved as carnivores because we don't have ferocious claws and teeth, and... (more)
But we're not carnivores so much as omnivores, somewhere between carnivores and herbivores. During the Pleistocene, most of the trees disappeared so there weren't so many to hang out in but we did learn how to herd a bunch of prey off high cliffs... (more)
