Hey guys, I'm a 20 yr old female that recently started eating paleo (again). Right now I'm consuming approx. 1,200 calories per day; although, I'll admit, sometimes I consume closer to 1,000. I realize this is probably too little, but I'm... (more)
I have been Paleo for about a year and saw some great results. I lost about 20lbs (from 145 to 125 for a 5'4 female). In the past few months, however, I have started to put weight on, at about a pound a week. I am feeling very frustrated and have... (more)
I eat a moderate carb paleo and work out(strength) and walk regularly. I am also on a very strict budget of only 40-50 a week. I prioritize good quality meat, mostly organic veggies (at least the "dirty dozen"), and eggs (generally organic... (more)
Hi, I am a skinny guy,or I am unless I eat 150 to 200 carbs per day from starches, even when not heavy lifting (2x week). If I don't eat carbs I lose weight super easily. My target bodyweight is 79 kilos. I like the sound of CBL, it would be... (more)
Quick question, Is it the same (as far as the body is concerned) to carb load the night before a hard, fasted workout in the morning with fruit (I've been tending towards eating a lot of grapes, berries, melon) as opposed to starches... (more)
Does anyone know, without accounting for exercise, how many grams of carbs a day are desirable to maintain a steady source of glucose for your brain? If you've read some of my other questions, you know that I'm trying to get back on the paleo... (more)
I know some people have probably seen this addressed, but everything I searched for came up in bits and pieces that didn't provide a straight forward answer or good example. I started a paleo style diet, I say that because I maintained limited... (more)
Has anyone here lost more than 50lbs while averaging 200+gm of carbohydrate a day? For all I am glad that Paleo has embraced starch for those who need it I'm wondering if that hasn't skewed people's results.
Thats basically it. We all know, add fat, lower the glycemic index of any carb. Thats why for some crazy reason, ice cream sugars are absorbed slower than starch in white bread (ie lower gi). How/why does this happen?
I have been tracking my macronutrients via con-o-meter. I am shooting for a ratio of 15:20:65(carbs:protein:fat). I can't seem to get my ratio of fat above my ratio of protein. Any suggestions?
If im understanding this correctly, the main objective (besides eating healthier) of a paleo diet is to make it so that you burn fat vs carbs for fuel. If i have this right, the only way to make that switch is to put your body into ketosis. From... (more)
About 2 months ago I had a nice set of abs at 175 lbs..I caught a cold for about a week and slowly lost them. This past month I went off the deep end. I've drank beer the past three weekends, binged on foods i shouldn't be eating (Pizza, white... (more)
Is it necessary to eat some fructose? Is there such thing as fructose deficiency? If you never eat fruit and only eat starch for your carb consumption in order to avoid liver glycogen repletion is there any long term concerns to eliminating... (more)
I've been Paleo for quite some months now. When I was over in Haiti, I didn't eat Paleo for a week. I got back, had the runs, and now I'm back eating Paleo. It's been about a month since I was in Haiti, and I've had brain fog for the last 2... (more)
Hello, y'all are always immensely helpful so I figured I'd ask: While my ultimate goal is health, I could stand to lose a good 20-30 pounds (depending on how much muscle I have; I also gave my scale a way so I can't be specific ... and I'm not... (more)
Ok so gradually I have been able to phase out carbs. I would start with doing Paleo + dairy and then over time my demand for dairy products would go so I didn't need that either. So I was getting along really well until I was forced to eat carbs.... (more)
I drink. Not often, but when I do, it's always rather heroic. So here's the thing; Since going Paleo - I no longer walk in at 5am craving McDonalds Bacon and Egg McMuffins. I now walk in at 5am craving steak, or Paleo pancakes (nut butter,... (more)
It is my understanding that cholesterol is only harmful if you have oxidised LDL type and that this is a problem for westerners because of high intake of refined sugars, refined carbs and omega 6. My question is will eating safe starches from taro... (more)
I go walking everyday on my lunch break, when i eat VLC i find i don't have much energy, i lack that spring in my step, if i go up to 200g carbs then it comes back, but then the last 2 days i've been fasting, all i've eaten is one avocado... (more)
tatical energy is a survial mechanism. Your body responds because it needs to in order to get more energy (food). Carbs are not the devil, 5 day fasts are not health seeking.
Hello everyone. I have a few questions about training, rest days, metabolism, and my paleo dieting habits and how they all work together to affect my quality of sleep everyday. Here's my stats:Male ; 28 years old ; height: 5'11" / 180 cm ; weight:... (more)

Let's say I have a goal of 2500-3000 calories a day. I want to gain weight. If I also want to do 35-40% of that as carbs... that is 875-1200 carbs a day. I have read many articles on pubmed saying 35-40% is likely close to what hunter/gathers ate.... (more)
The only way I have ever gained weight is by drinking extra calories, especially with orange juice and milk. This keeps me from getting very hungry between meals, and even ample starch isn't enough to make me gain a pound. Not paleo but I was at... (more)
