Did your Whole Foods drop its Kerrygold pastured butter prices to around $2.49 to beat Trader Joe's' Kerrygold price?

I just noticed in the last few weeks that the Whole Foods nearest to my house has dropped its per-brick cost of Kerrygold to $2.49, which beats the $2.69/$2.79 that I see at Trader Joe's in the region. In fact I haven't seen Kerrygold cheaper than $2.49, ever!

There was a sticker on the Kerrygold shelf at Whole Foods saying something about dropping the prices of staples, so it strikes me that Whole Foods might recognize that folks who seek pastured butter are stocking up a LOT on pastured butter wherever it's cheapest.

Is your Whole Foods' Kerrygold price suddenly stock-up-price lower?

Wegman's had been running at $4.49, then dropped to $3.99 around December and just last week it dropped down to $2.69. I thought it was a fluke, so I stocked up and froze the extras. We don't have a local Whole Foods or Trader Joe's but there is a Costco opening soon and a WF is about to break ground during the summer.

"How much grams is a brick?" sounds like a question for CrackHacks.com

I greatly enjoy the grocery store name Harris Teeter. It makes me giggle. But it is not as good as Piggly Wiggly which I had near my last house. :p

wegman's is competitive in some things like grassfed steak price but kind of ridiculous in other things. harris teeter is great for the wild caught fish prices when they go on sale(for instance, 2 weeks ago wild caught salmon was 6.99/lb fresh) but suck at their pricing of things like KERRYGOLD. hah.

...also...Giant near me sells the same 16 tbsp. brick for $3.99/ea. And HT @ $5.99/ea.? Who are they kidding!?

OOoooo good point...I haven't been in a Wegman's in a while but if they were price competitive on butter it'd be worth a gander.

@lkco, one brick is 16 tbsp., two traditional sticks of butter. @Andrew, excellent point - the price I cited here in my question is from a Whole Foods that is probably just about a mile from a Trader Joe's!

There a two Whole Foodsd near my house. One's about 1/4 mile away from a TJ the other is a good ways away. The one near TJs historically $2.79; the one a spell away from TJs sells it for $3.79.

Yep, I saw a special deal in Whole Foods at the end of April. Also, to my surprise, my local Wegmans droped the price to $2.79 after I complained to them. They used to sell it for $4.99 / 8oz.

Nope, mine is $2.99, but they periodically put it on sale for about $2.39 - 2.59.

No Trader Joe's where I'm located in FL, and for some reason the only Whole Foods in my town sells Kerrygold for $5.99 a block! I keep checking it and will check it again after reading this, but for now I've been getting it at Publix where it's $4.09 (up from $3.39 before the holidays). That's the cheapest I can find, but it's worth it to me.

I would try some of the Organic Valley stuff, but it seemed like the kind I wanted didn't come in an unsalted variety last time I checked.

Costco in NYC sells Kerrygold in bulk, not sure of the price off hand, but it is much better than the price per brick at any local store, including WF. I buy other organic butters too, but nothing really matches Kerrygold's richness.

Damn you. I'm in Boulder CO, Kerrygold is $4-$6 across all the stores in town (I've checked).

I saw $2.49 for Kerrygold and went "Whoa :)", then I saw May 9 and went "Whoa :(". Still not in my local Trader Joes or Whole Foods, but last I saw it was over $5 a package.

My Wegmans also sells the Kerrygold for $4.99. Ridiculous. Wish I could find another source -- my BJs used to sell it but they dropped it.

Last I checked (albeit a while back now), my local Whole Foods and Trader Joes did not carry Kerrygold. I'll have to take a look again next time I go by.

My Trader Joe's is across the street from Whole Foods. I should go look... I didn't buy it before, but that sounds like a much more reasonable price.
