Recently I have noticed that I am starting to break out with acne more than I ever have before. My whole forehead is breaking out and I want to figure out the cause and immediatey stop/reverse it. Two weeks ago I decided to ditch crossfit for a... (more)
So I have been getting Zits consistently forever. I am now 24 and kept telling myself it would go away as I got older. I did a session accutane when I was 22 and it kind of helped, but I still get it below my mouth around my chin. (Never got... (more)
For the pimple part, see answers to this - http://paleohacks.com/questions/42129/hack-my-sudden-acne-onset#axzz1OKEmPHB5
So I started paleo to get rid of chronic folliculitis on my face. Previous to havng that I ha acne throughout my teens and used all the standard topical medications, as well as took Accutane. My folliculitis improved with plaeo but went away 100%... (more)
What's interesting is that prior to the 30-day elimination I only rarely ate dairy because I thought I had lactose intolerance (gas, bloating) to ricotta, softer cheeses, and diarrhea to milk. Lactaid would eliminate these symptoms when I ate ice... (more)
Dr. Cordain talks about the role of Insulin like Growth Factor Binding Protein-3 (IGFBP-3), IGF-1, "high levels of male hormones circulating in the blood stream" -- too much androgen, too little SHBG, dietary lectins, and "localized... (more)
I've been reading more of Dr. Cordain's theory of diet and acne. I follow a strict paleo diet, but still breakout from time to time. I take some GLA every day (16mg), but this hasn't helped. I've been hoping he will appear on the paleo solution to... (more)
Anyone else experience this? I'm not exactly sure if it's the butter that caused it but I've been dairy-free for a few years, except post WOD whey (which never triggered much in forms of pimples). I introduced Kerrygold into my diet a few weeks... (more)
I've been Paleo for 2 months now, and have struggled with acne my entire life. This is the reason I went Paleo in the first place. While my face has cleared up tremendously, the pimples keep coming back. They're never as big as they used to be and... (more)
I've been hearing more about adding in some GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) for those following a strict paleo diet while still having some acne breakouts, especially even after adding in some fish oil. Robb Wolf mentioned that some can try adding... (more)
I originally hopped on the Paleolithic Diet to cure my acne and while my acne problems have decreased significantly, my face is now covered in acne scars. I was wondering if anyone else is in the same boat and can offer some help in this area. If... (more)
It does seem whenever I eat bad foods I sometimes get an outbreak of acne. I think slowly maybe my acne is improving but I want to know if I can clear it up for good with Paleo or if there is any other stuff people know.
I know I've been a bit of anomaly in what I've experienced on the Paleo diet. My diet was pretty clean before Paleo, so really the only foods Ive added to my diet are different kinds of meat (vegetarian before), and eliminated the rice,... (more)
Hi All, I'm eating pretty cleanly these days. Grass-fed beef, macadamias, broccoli, eggs, onions, avocados, (plus some krill oil supplementation for omega-3) just to name a few staples. I've noticed that my acne has been worsening lately.... (more)
Acne issue aside, it might be wise to skip the omega-3 supplementation in general given that your diet isn't really overly omega-6 rich and you would have a pretty good 3:6 balance without it.
Hullo! :) I'm a desperate woman. I miss yoghurt something fierce (and yes, I know it's not Paleo, but this is a recurrent craving that I'm having trouble ignoring as it has been nagging me for literally years), and I would love to figure out why... (more)
So I made a switch to use coconut fat instead of butter a couple of weeks ago and not only it didn't help and even made things worse. In fact, it's actually a cause of acne. One day, I cooked some grassfed beef with organic/unrefined coconut oil... (more)
It sounds like an allergic reaction, not acne. Acne doesn't occur spontaneously. If you're itchy and getting a rash (that looks like acne) then you're allergic to what you're eating.
My family and I just ate some steamed organic (yeh, not pastured, but still better than nothing) chicken together, which rarely happens now since they're not paleo. Immediately after the meal, I can already feel acne and itch flaring up, a feeling... (more)
Do you eat fish and shellfish? Those (especially if wild) will be even better than grassfed beef in 3/6 balance and might be a way to test the omega hypothesis.
Im 31 years old, male, athletic, fit, strict paleo for over one year. For five years prior to this i was hardcore WAP. So, i feel ive been living and eating healthily for a good amount of time. However, i still get occasional zits. And they are... (more)
I am doing a big daily dose of iodine/iodide (Dr. Ron's Iodine Complex) 36mg at one time (with dinner). I am doing such a big dose for my fibrocystic breasts and polycystic ovaries. I am actually awaiting blood tests results for hormonal... (more)
I've noticed that whenever I use flax seed oil I get some acne. Obviously, it sucks. Has anyone noticed this? Is there a correlation, or is it coincidence? I love me my healthy fats but not a big acne fan lol Thanks!
Has anyone got rid of blackheads on their nose with the Paleo diet? How long did it take? I've been on the diet for about four years, although somewhat loosely (a lot of rice at times, although months without it as well). I've also had periods... (more)
A few months back I downloaded the 'Dietary Cure for Acne' and have been slowly moving the entire family over to the Paleo diet. This month we have begun the elimination diet, our primary motive is to journey along with, and support our 15yr old... (more)
I've been semi-paleo (about 80%) for about 10 months. I started a really clean, strict 30 day challenge 10 days ago. I have celiacs disease and over the last 10 months I have been cheating here and there eating glutenous foods and occasionally... (more)
Hey all! So, (finally! wahoo!) I've learned that my hidden food allergy is nightshades. However, it really didn't flare up until I ate a lot of raw tomatoes and peppers this summer. The skin on my face, over time, became increasingly rough,... (more)
I saw a thread on acne.org talking about success with a colostrum supplement. The idea being that it will heal any leaky gut issues which will result in less inflammation and less acne. I'm concerned because it seems to basically be dairy and I... (more)
