For those of us who are on a budget or do not have access to pastured meat, what would be some good strategies? One could for instance buy lean conventional beef and complement it with pastured butter and cream and/or pastured eggs, chicken and... (more)
I am totally poor, right above the poverty line, and I eat paleo and only pastured meat. The secret is trying to get deals on meat and eating less popular cuts. I am a member of a meatshare, which means I pool money with people to buy a... (more)
I've got a pair of Vibram Five Fingers Sprints. I love them. I use them hiking in dirt and sprinting in the grass fields near my house. Today I was out running (in normal running sneakers) and a man (very likely 50 lbs heavier than me, both in... (more)
Hardly use soap for my body anyway, but doing without shampoo/conditioner? Then I'd actually have to buy/use a comb? And how would I possibly cope without shaving cream? The notion does keep tugging at me though, because my hair is so much less... (more)
One of the greatest things about eating Paleo is the disappearance of migraines that had plagued me since early childhood -- I attribute that to eliminating wheat from my diet. Any other former migraine sufferers out there? BTW I should also... (more)
Hi, I am new to paleo and I have been having a cup of heavy whipping cream in the morning and I love it. I am not ever hungry, I read that heavy whipping cream had no insulin effect and so I sort of went crazy with it. Is this way too much fat?... (more)
I probably rely on grocery store brand heavy whipping cream a bit too much for my fat needs. It comes with carrageenan and polysorbate 80 as thickeners/emulsifiers. I'm not willing to give up the cream on the "precautionary principle" alone, as... (more)
Just curious. I know no one likely has an actual answer - but what's your answer to this question: are there more men than women following a paleo diet? My sense is overwhelmingly that there are more men than women interested in and following... (more)
Most of the women I know are obsessed with eating junk food, and just eating in general. I've never known many guys to obsess about wanting to have a slice of cheesecake. I just don't get it.
Ever since adopting a paleo diet (one year ago), I have noticed a decrease in PMS symptoms as well as a shorter period in general. I have significantly less cramping, never get PMS-related acne any more, and find that I have a more regular cycle.... (more)
What do you use? I typically throw in peppers(red bell and hot), onions, broccoli and chicken. Any sauce suggestions? I had been using gluten free teriyaki sauce, but its soy based.
Ever since going to England for the first time last September, I've been craving black pudding. I've seen blood sausage in a few specialty stores back here, but they've either had questionable ingredients (I know, most people would consider blood... (more)
I've recently spotted stalls carrying (cheap) whole veal spleens at a local market. I'm thinking of trying some, just out of curiosity. Thing is, I have absolutely no idea how to cook it. From what I've read, spleen is quite a fragile, crumbly... (more)
Anybody have any success in this regard? If so, was it just facial, or shoulder as well? Can I toss out my Clearasil? Should I sell my shares of Reckitt Benckiser Group plc?
9 out of 10 dentists are worried about the ramifications of the paleo diet. What's the word?
I'm a big fan of beef jerky. However, the stuff that's easy to find is loaded with junk ingredients -- sugar, MSG, soy, preservatives, etc.. Anyone know of a good online supplier where I can get more natural stuff? I'm aware that it's possible... (more)
How bad is this? I love creamed coconut and dried coconut flakes, but sometimes the only ones I can find have sulphur dioxide as an additive (no other additives though). I'm guessing this is not ideal, but does anyone know about... (more)
I've been playing with a ketogenic diet for 6 weeks now and have never quite gotten into a deep state (according to the stix, which I know are not always accurate). I was eating a lot of coconut oil and some coconut butter (not as much as the... (more)
Cows produce one of two forms of beta casein depending on their genetics: A1 or A2. The A1 mutation occurred relatively recently in human history-- all other species of mammal have casein that is more similar to A2 casein. The problem is that A1... (more)
